We picked up Sibber (nee Oreo) from Barbara and Al Lewis in Valdosta, Ga.  Barbara and Al have been fostering rescued Schips for many years.  I think Al said that about eighty Schips have passed through their gates.

Well, they do a wonderful job, because Sibber, who is just about seven months old, is a great dog.

We left the Lewis' around 1030.  Sibber was in his crate in the back of our Pathfinder.  He whined a little off and on for about 2 hours.  Then, he just laid down and took a little nap.  He was the perfect travel dog from that point on.

Stopped a couple of times and Sibber, although a little skittish at first, adapted pretty well to passing traffic at the rest stop and at the Publix shopping center where we stopped to pick up some lunch.

Getting fitted for boat harness at Petsmart

By the time we got to Petsmart to pick up a crate for the boat and a few other things, Sibber was right in step.  He walks wonderfullly on-leash.  Doesn't pull ahead or dig in his heels at all.

Taking some advice out of Cesar Milan's (The Dog Whisperer) books and television shows, we walked Sibber quite a bit before introducing him to our home and back yard.  We've gone on several long walks today and this evening after dinner.  He seems to have had fun exploring.

We met our friends Jim and Lorraine and their dog,  Bocci  (a Pom-Shelty mix) at the walk along Edgewater Drive to watch the sun set.  Sibber really socializes very well with other dogs (another tribute to the great work that Barbara and Al have done at their foster home for Schips).

Bed time and into the crate without a fuss.  A couple of whines and yips, and now, he's just quietly sitting there in his crate.

I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful Day 1!
